She and her husband, the pharaoh Akhenaten, were responsible for a massive 14th century BCE overhaul of the Egyptian state religion--sole worship of the one God Aten, the sun disc. While this religious revolution would reverse itself shortly after their lifetimes, they succesfully introduced a monotheistic religion into the notoriously stable cultural landscape of Ancient Egypt.
