Western Mysteries Statue - St. Francis Meditating - 2"

This exquisite white resin Statue of St. Francis in meditation is handcrafted in Oregon, USA by Mission Studios, and is part of their Western Mysteries Collection. The height of this statue is approximately 2 inches.

St. Francis was born in Italy and is the Patron Saint of animals, the environment, and Italy. He was a wealthy man, but was sympathetic to the poor; he had much compassion for those struggling with poverty and illness. St. Francis founded the order of the Franciscan brothers and nuns.

As the patron saint of animals, St. Francis had a particularly special relationship with birds, who it is said often followed him around and rested on his shoulders, arms, or hands as he prayed or walked around outside.

The prayer of St. Francis is as follows:

"O Lord, make me an instrument of Thy Peace!
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is discord, harmony;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light, and
Where there is sorrow, joy.
Oh Divine Master, grant that I may not
so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand; to be loved
as to love; for it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life."
