Manjusri is a Bodhisattva in the Mahayana Buddhist tradition and appears as a fully enlightened Buddha in the Vajrayana tradition. Manjusri is depicted wielding a flaming sword in his right hand, representing the realization of transcendent wisdom which cuts down ignorance and duality.
His Sanskrit name means, "He who is noble and gentle."
