Kuanyin Statue - Royal Ease - 4.5"

This exquisite white resin Statue of Kuanyin is handcrafted in Oregon, USA by Mission Studios, and is part of their "Kuanyin and Friends" Collection. The height of this statue is approximately 4.5 inches.

Kuanyin is the Goddess of Mercy, Compassion, and Healing. She is said to be the one who stills the waters and quiets the restless earth. Though she is a Bodhisattva, one who is qualified to enter Nirvana, she chose to remain on Earth to bring enlightenment to others: While standing before the gates of Paradise she heard a cry of anguish from the earth below. Turning back to earth, she renounced her reward of eternal bliss but in its place found immortality in the hearts of the suffering. Her name Kuanyin, means “She who harkens to the cries of the world”.

In this particular statue, Kuanyin  is depicted  in regal royal ease pose. The name of this pose in Sanskrit, rajalilasana, refers to Kuanyin's sitting position in which one foot touches the ground, while the other leg is raised and flexed at the knee, supporting one arm. The body, supported by the other arm, leans slightly backwards. Dignified and relaxed, the royal ease pose embodies the effortlessness of the compassionate path.
