Interview with Evelyn Clare, prolific Nelson Psychic!

Evelyn Clare is a prolific Psychic Reader who has been in the Nelson area for around 50 years!

Gaia: Evelyn!!! I am so excited to learn more about you... please tell us about yourself :)

Evelyn: I was born in Southern California and I am a 4th generation Reader from my father's side. He was Welsh through and through. He became a seeker when he had an out of body experience at 7 climbing around a castle in Wales. 

Gaia: Would you say that you have always been a spiritual person or attracted to spirituality?

Evelyn: Yes, I would say so, definitely. My father's interest in the occult influenced me. He had many books on the topics of mediumship, out of body experiences, children remembering their former lifetimes and family members.

Gaia: What is one of your earliest spiritual experiences that you can remember?

Evelyn: I was always able to discern subtle energies. The most impactful experience I had was when one day, my dad told me that my ancestors would be bringing me roses. And, sure enough, one day the scent of roses was very powerful in our house where no roses were physically present. This was a gift just for me, no one else could smell them. My Mum took us camping all the time, and it was in the forests that I could sense the Fae. At age 19 I was at the London Psychical Society. One of the tests there was what they called "proof of mediumship". I was in a little chapel with pews and the fellow demonstrating asked anyone whom the Spirits called on, to raise their voice in acknowledgement to keep the vibrations high for contact. Now, you have to understand I was extremely shy back then and I thought, “Whew, I’m ok I don’t know any dead ancestors” Well, what I hadn’t counted on was that they knew me! I remember their message to this day; they said “Evelyn, Jump! We are holding the reins.” Imagine how helpful that was!

Gaia: Did you ever feel shame or reservation around your spiritual gifts?

Evelyn: I did feel somewhat reticent to talk about my gift until I found others who were similarly gifted. Then it was like, ok, I found my people and we started doing readings for each other.

Gaia: How would you describe the kind of work that you do?

Evelyn: My sense of the work that I do is to take the role of reporter. Once our Higher Selves are connected then it is my job to report all that I see and hear. I cannot edit because if I try, the flow discontinues. There have been times when I did not really want to pass on the message, but I quickly learned that the person receiving the reading knew what it meant and they were grateful for the words.

Gaia: What are some archetypes or expressions of the divine you are presently working with that are in resonance with you?

Evelyn: I recently finished a course with Margaurite Rigolioso with the Divine Feminine Oracle style readings. Since then, the Guidance has been quite different; more focused on female self-care and purpose.

Gaia: Are there any other personal spiritual practices you have? Do you mind sharing about them?

Evelyn: I love being in Nature, that is a primary spiritual practice, out in the woods, in the garden or by water are marvelous places to meditate and appreciate our connection to Nature.

Gaia: Are there any spiritual philosophies, beliefs or paths you are drawn to that you would like to learn more about?

Evelyn: Yes, I am currently working with Pamela Montgomery in her course on Co-Creative Partnership with Nature. We work a lot with reciprocity, energy hygiene, ritual, and Nature Spirits.

Gaia: How do you think you have grown as a person in the last year?

Evelyn: One big change in my life is that I am retired from my “day-job” and can spend more time outdoors and on other spiritual pursuits. Also, I have been blessed with another grandchild!

Gaia: What is one thing you would like to grow about yourself in 2023?

Evelyn: I’m delighted to have more time to give energy readings. I have been a reader for over 30 years and I notice that most people reach out when they are at a crossroads in their lives. A report from our Higher Selves is so helpful during those times of uncertainty. Another idea I am toying with is, due to the years I spent teaching children dance, drama, and clowning is to create a Mystery School for children.
